Kyan Health is a modern employee assistance program (EAP) alternative and behavioral health solution for global organizations. The platform delivers world-class quality mental health care employers can afford. Kyan provides three key products:

  • Kyan Care gives employees the full care spectrum in one app: self-care resources, counseling and coaching through a network of 140,000+ experts, work-life support, 24/7 crisis care, and Kai, the AI Care Guide. With Kyan, booking a session with a human expert takes under a minute, the first session happens in under 3 days, and the crisis line is answered by a clinician in under 30 seconds.

  • Kyan Engage helps HR and leaders run, measure, and improve their mental health program. Launch and communication tools encourage employees to use support, while anonymized workforce insights, ROI reporting, and recommended actions show where to focus next. Managers can access clinical guidance for everyday challenges and a dedicated Critical Incident Response center for coordinated support during crises and ongoing follow-up care.

  • Kyan Academy equips teams, managers, and leaders with practical skills to prevent burnout, manage stress, and build trust at work. Its 30+ expert-led programs are delivered through live webinars, on-site workshops, and self-paced e-learning. Training can address needs surfaced by Kyan Engage, with custom programs available for challenges specific to your organization.

With Kyan Health, organizations see up to 30% sustained engagement: 10x the legacy EAP benchmark, whereas more than 90% of clinical cases achieve symptom improvement.

Founded in 2021, Kyan Health supports 3 million+ lives across 200+ countries and territories for over 150 partner organizations, including On, Hitachi Energy, Hilti, Deichmann, Stada, and more.

An employee assistance program (EAP) is a work benefit that gives employees confidential, short-term support at no cost to them. An EAP typically covers counseling for stress, anxiety, grief, and relationships, plus referrals for legal, financial, and childcare needs. Employers usually pay a per-employee, per-month fee. Many traditional EAPs rely on a phone line and see low use, so employers are moving to modern EAP alternatives such as Kyan Health.

When comparing a modern EAP vs traditional EAP, the difference comes down to how easily employees get help and how clearly HR can see it working. Kyan Health brings that difference to life:

  • More employees use it: personalized support and simple access help Kyan achieve up to 30% sustained engagement, 10x the legacy EAP benchmark.

  • Employees book care directly: they see matching counselors and coaches, choose a provider, and book in under a minute, with a first session in under 3 days.

  • Work-life services are in the same app: employees describe what they need, such as a caregiver for an aging parent, find matching providers, and request contact. A human Care Consultant steps in if a provider hasn’t responded within 24 hours.

  • HR sees outcomes and knows what to do next: live, anonymized and aggregated insights show usage, wellbeing, and clinical improvement, with recommended actions such as targeted manager training. Over 90% of clinical cases show symptom improvement.

  • Kyan shares responsibility for results: part of its fees is tied to engagement, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.

Kyan Health brings together three products to support employees, teams, and your organization:

  • Kyan Care for employees: Counseling and coaching from a global network of 140,000+ providers, work-life services, self-care resources in 36+ languages, and a 24/7 crisis helpline in one platform. Kai, our AI Care Guide, helps employees who aren’t sure where to start find the right support within the platform.

  • Kyan Engage for HR and leaders: One command center to understand workforce needs through anonymized insights, track outcomes and ROI, and get clear recommendations on what to do next. Includes tools to drive engagement, clinical guidance for managers, and coordinated support during critical incidents.

  • Kyan Academy for teams and leaders: 30+ expert-led programs covering burnout prevention, stress management, and resilient leadership. Available as live webinars, on-site workshops, and self-paced e-learning, with training matched to needs identified through Engage. Also available independently of Kyan Care and Kyan Engage.

Kyan Health partners with employers that have 500 or more employees, and the typical fit is 1,000+.

Most fall into two groups: companies replacing an underused legacy employee assistance program (EAP), and companies paying premium prices for a mental health platform that want the same quality for less. Kyan Health works with 150+ partner organizations across industries, including On, Hitachi Energy, Stada, Hilti, and Deichmann.

Yes. For companies on a legacy employee assistance program (EAP), Kyan Health is a full replacement: it covers everything the EAP did and adds stepped care and Work-Life Services in one app. For companies on a premium mental health platform, Kyan Health replaces it with the same depth of care for less.

Employees can typically see a counselor through Kyan Health in under 3 days. They book directly in the Kyan Care app in under a minute, with no phone queue or callback. Employees can filter providers by language, specialty, approach, identity, session format, and availability, and review each provider’s background before booking. Sessions are available online or in person. Booking a session with an ICF-certified coach works the same way.

Yes. Kyan Health supports employees in 200+ countries and territories through one provider network of 140,000+ counselors and coaches covering 120+ languages, including 11,000+ providers across all 50 US states. Kyan Health contracts providers directly in each region, so care is local and culturally relevant. Self-care resources are available in 36+ languages, and frontline and shift employees use the Kyan Care app on their own phones.

Kyan Health ensures quality and safety of care through human-led clinical oversight and a provider network it contracts directly. Providers are credentialed psychologists and International Coaching Federation (ICF)-certified coaches, carefully vetted before they join. Members rate their counselors and coaches 4.9 out of 5, and over 90% of clinical cases achieve symptom improvement, tracked with the PHQ-9 and GAD-7. If a member shows signs of crisis, a clinician answers the crisis line in under 30 seconds.

Kyan Health supports employees with stress, anxiety, burnout, sleep, relationships, and other everyday challenges, alongside behavioral health needs such as support for neurodivergent individuals and substance use concerns. Pediatric mental health support is also available.

Members can move between self-care, coaching, counseling, and crisis care as their needs change, bringing support together in one program.

AI can be safe in employee mental health support when it guides people to care rather than providing care. Kai, the 24/7 AI care guide in the Kyan Care app, helps members find self-care resources, counseling, coaching or Work-Life Services. Kai does not deliver therapy and was developed with clinical psychologists. If a member shows signs of crisis with Kai, during onboarding or anywhere in the app, Kyan Health routes them to a crisis line answered by a clinician.

Kyan Health protects employee confidentiality by never showing employers what an individual shares, including in chats with Kai, or which care they use. HR teams see only anonymized, aggregated data, with small groups hidden. Kyan Health complies with GDPR, the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and HIPAA, with attestations available on request in its Trust Center. ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type II are in progress. In the US, providers are also licensed state by state.

Managers at companies using Kyan Health can book a consultation with a master's-level clinician when a team member is struggling. The clinician helps them talk through the situation, workplace conflict or a hard conversation, and plan their next step. Kyan Academy adds manager training on topics such as burnout prevention and resilient leadership. Managers get guidance on how to act but never see an employee's care details.

After a critical incident at work, Kyan Health helps employees access on-site or virtual clinical support, specialist services when needed, and ongoing check-ins and tailored resources in the weeks that follow.

A dedicated clinical and customer support team guides managers through a step-by-step response plan, including communications with families where needed. Managers can track the response in Kyan Engage. Support continues beyond the immediate incident, recognizing that its impact may emerge weeks later.

Kyan Health offers mental health training for managers and teams through Kyan Academy, which has 30+ programs on burnout prevention, resilient leadership, stress management and psychological safety. Programs run as live webinars, on-site workshops or self-paced e-learning, and sessions score an 84 Net Promoter Score (NPS). Kyan Engage recommends programs based on workforce data, and the customer success team builds custom programs on request. Organizations can also buy Kyan Academy on its own.

HR teams using Kyan Engage see anonymized, aggregated workforce mental health data in five views: wellbeing outcomes, wellbeing drivers, clinical outcomes (PHQ-9 and GAD-7), usage and care, and custom segmentation. Usage data includes the most-searched topics, such as stress and burnout, which shows what employees need. Results can be filtered by department, region or team, and are benchmarked against Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre and Indeed data.

Most employee assistance programs (EAPs) charge a per-employee, per-month (PEPM) fee. Kyan Health offers flexible pricing structures designed to fit different budget profiles and benefit philosophies:

  1. PEPM: a predictable, fixed monthly cost per employee.

  2. Volume-based tiered pricing: PEPM rates that adjust to your headcount.

  3. Fee-for-service (FFS): payments tied to care use.

Pricing can also be modular. Organizations choose the components they need across member-facing care and employer-facing services, pay only for what is activated, and can expand the scope as their budget evolves.

Kyan Health works consultatively with HR teams, brokers and benefits consultants to recommend the right pricing structure and scope of services. For more details on how pricing works, contact us here.

Employers measure the return on investment (ROI) of a mental health benefit by tracking usage, clinical outcomes, and work impact, such as absence and presenteeism. In Kyan Engage, HR teams see usage, wellbeing trends, and clinical outcomes measured with the PHQ-9 and GAD-7. Kyan Health models ROI on each organization's own workforce data. On, for example, saved $1.3M in productivity by cutting presenteeism with Kyan Health, an 8x return.

Most traditional employee assistance programs (EAPs) see utilization in the low single digits, so a good EAP utilization rate is well into double digits. Utilization is the share of eligible employees who use the EAP in a year. When comparing vendors, ask what counts as use, because some include website visits.

Kyan Health reaches up to 30% sustained engagement, supported by personalized care recommendations, easy access to support, and ongoing campaigns that keep the benefit visible. A dedicated customer success team helps HR launch the program and re-engage employees when usage dips.

Start with five areas: how many employees use the service and what counts as use; how quickly they can access care; provider qualifications and language coverage in each country; reporting on clinical outcomes; and transparent pricing. Ask vendors to back up their answers with data, sample reports, and a walkthrough of the employee experience.

For a more detailed comparison, use Kyan Health’s EAP Buyer’s Guide. It includes 132 questions across 16 topics, drawn from real EAP tenders, plus a printable scorecard to compare providers consistently.
